cure for all

This is not a cure for all in tracking. Your eyes are still the best way. But with down game in with little or no blood it may be the only way to recover game. It is a lot money for this and you must take your time. The hard part is the learning curve because most things give off some sort of heat.

fall-winter hunting

NOT GOOD IN HOT WEATHER. IN HOT WEATHER, THE WEATHER TEMP, AND ANIMAL TEMPS ARE TOO CLOSE TO THE SAME TO SHOW A DIFFERANCE, SO NOTHING STANDS OUT!

"The Jury Is Still Out "

I have had my thermal viewer since Sept.20 . On Sept.24, on the 2nd day of the TN deer season, about 30min. before dark , I arrowed a 5pt buck that left no blood trail even though it was a pass thru with a blood covered arrow . The deer ran from the woods into an open field and I lost sight of it . I searched for a blood trail and my deer with my thermal viewer in the field and also backup into the woods in case it doubled back . It was very warm ( 88 degrees F. ) . I scanned the field numerous times on different settings with no luck . After about an hour it was pitch dark so I left to return early the next morning . I found my buck double lunged about 50 yards out in the field in some tall grass .The Leupold thermal viewer gives all kinds of targets .Any thing warm . Trees , bushes , rocks , it is hard to tell what is what . It was no help finding my deer. Maybe I scanned over the deer ?? Maybe I depended too heavy on the thermal viewer . ??? Maybe if the temperature had been much cooler it would have detected the deer ???? Who knows !! I'll keep on experimenting with it but so far I am disappointed .

Awesome

Totally amazed. Was able to detect coons easily in heavy brush. Detected deer at 250 yds on a 70 degree night. Was better than I expected and great fun to use. Wish it had true magnification instead of digital but on 1.5 X images are small but visible. Also needs a holster to carry it in.
